Lilium

In general, lilies need a well-drained, humus-rich soil which does not dry out.  Most should be planted deeply, particularly the stem-rooting types, and they usually prefer to have their heads in the sun and their feet in the shade.  Many grow well in containers, which need to be deep, especially for those which produce stem roots.
60-200cm. Sturdy stems bear numerous fragrant trumpet flowers, white with purplish-red reverse, in July. Grows in most well-drained soils, except very alkaline. Full sun.
