DianthusDianthus need well-drained soil and a sunny position, and most are happiest in an alkaline soil.. Smaller varieties are suitable for troughs and raised beds, whilst some of the taller ones are better in a sunny border. They often attract butterflies and bees, and many are deliciously fragrant.
