We are a two small adjacent nurseries, situated near Romsey in Hampshire, producing a joint catalogue and website. We grow a large range of interesting and unusual plants, many of which are not widely available. Our plantlist includes a particularly good range of drought-tolerant plants, also hardy geraniums, salvias and campanulas, with a growing number of herbs, fragrant and aromatic plants, and plants to attract bees and butterflies. We also have a range of British natives and wildflowers, and we grow a wide range of 'Mottisfont Plants'
For 2008, Birchwood Plants is open solely for the collection of orders by arrangement, but our plants are also on sale at Mottisfont Abbey, a National Trust property, famed for its beautiful walled garden, where many of our plants can be seen, growing in the borders alongside the collection of Old Fashioned Roses. If you want something in particular please phone or e-mail a few days in advance to ensure availability as our complete range of plants is not always available at Mottisfont. We grow in a peat-free compost.
From 2009, we will be opening at our nursery site on several days from early spring onwards. Dates are yet to be set, but will be posted here shortly.
As we are a small concern, we cannot guarantee availability of plants at all times, but we are happy to grow plants to order.
The prices are not quoted in the catalogue, as this depends on the size of plants available. Most plants offered are in the range from £1.50 to £7, depending on size of plant, difficulty of propagation, and availability of material.
